Staff Accountant
Job Description
A&K Construction is seeking a detail oriented Accounting Technician to join our team, as we are expanding our department due to company growth. This candidate will assist the Accounting Manager in multiple key areas and will perform a wide variety of accounting functions with an emphasis on payroll processing as the main backup to the Payroll Manager. This role will work closely with our team of Construction Project Managers and office staff to complete tasks with accuracy.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Process weekly payrolls and related payroll reconciliations as needed
- Employee onboarding for payroll and benefits.
- Payroll tax reporting
- Sales tax returns
- Various accounts payable functions
- Accounts receivable as needed
- Certified Payrolls
- Manage Job Costs
- Equipment job cost allocations
- Calculate quarterly bonuses as backup to the payroll manager
- Monthly lease payments
- Other accounting and administrative duties as necessary.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or associate degree in accounting, finance or related field.
- 3+ Years of payroll and accounting experience in an office environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Good phone skills and computer literacy (MS Office)
- Ability to work independently and effectively manage time.
- Attention to detail, with a high level of accuracy.
- The construction background is a plus!
